Story of redemption in the bible

The Holy Scriptures, God's writing of love, explain the origin, fall, and redemption of humanity. They contain the all-sufficient revelation of God's will to men and women as our only infallible rule of faith and practice under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. John 5:39; Psalm 89:34 (cf. Matthew 22:29; John 7:17); Luke 24:44, 45; Psalm 119:104, 105; Isaiah 8:20; 2 Timothy 3:15.

The Bible (the Old and the New Testaments) is the authority to teach us and correct us, showing us the difference between right and wrong (Mark 12:24; Acts 17:11; 2 Timothy 3:16, 17; James 1:22, 23; 1 Peter 1:22, 23). Therefore, our individual stand before God and our relationship with one another must be based on a "Thus saith the Lord" (Matthew 7:12; John 8:32; 16:13; 17:17; 2 Thessalonians 2:13).

Christ's presence with men of God, as they were moved by the Holy Spirit, in both the Old and New Testament times, is the origin of the written Word of God (2 Peter 1:21; 2 Timothy 3:16; Luke 16:29, 31; John 5:46, 47). Proof of its divine inspiration is found in the Bible itself (1 Peter 1:10-12; 1 Thessalonians 2:13).

Through the ministration of the Holy Spirit, the Bible is self-explanatory and does not need any human tradition or catechism for its interpretation (Isaiah 28:10; 34:16; 2 Peter 1:19, 20). If we live in harmony with the Holy Scriptures, the promises and blessings of the Lord are ours (Luke 11:28; Matthew 4:4; 7:21, 24, 25; John 6:63; 8:31).

"The whole Bible is a manifestation of Christ, and the Saviour desired to fix the faith of His followers on the word. When His visible presence should be withdrawn, the word must be their source of power."-The Desire of Ages, p. 390.

"The Bible is the most wonderful of all histories, for it is the production of God, not of the finite mind. It carries us back through the centuries to the beginning of all things, presenting the history of times and scenes which would otherwise never have been known. It reveals the glory of God in the working of His providence to save a fallen world. It presents in the simplest language the mighty power of the gospel, which, received, would cut the chains that bind men to Satan's chariot." -Fundamentals of Christian Education, p. 377.

"Every part of the Bible is given by inspiration of God and is profitable. The Old Testament no less than the New should receive attention. As we study the Old Testament we shall find living springs bubbling up where the careless reader discerns only a desert." -Education, p. 191.

"It is not the mere reading of the word that will accomplish the result that is designed by Heaven, but the truth revealed in the word of God must find an entrance into the heart, if the good intended is obtained."-Fundamentals of Christian Education, p. 131.

"The whole Bible is a revelation of the glory of God in Christ. Received, believed, obeyed, it is the great instrumentality in the transformation of character. And it is the only sure means of intellectual culture."-Testimonies, vol. 8, p. 319.

"By looking constantly to Jesus with the eye of faith, we shall be strengthened. God will make the most precious revelations to His hungering, thirsting people. They will find that Christ is a personal Saviour. As they feed upon His word, they find that it is spirit and life. The word destroys the natural, earthly nature, and imparts a new life in Christ Jesus. The Holy Spirit comes to the soul as a Comforter. By the transforming agency of His grace, the image of God is reproduced in the disciple; he becomes a new creature."-The Desire of Ages, p. 391.

"The Bible, and the Bible alone, [is] the foundation of our faith."-Selected Messages, bk. 2, p. 85.

"God will have a people upon the earth to maintain the Bible, and the Bible only, as the standard of all doctrines and the basis of all reforms. The opinions of learned men, the deductions of science, the creeds or decisions of ecclesiastical councils, as numerous and discordant as are the churches which they represent, the voice of the majority, not one nor all of these should be regarded as evidence for or against any point of religious faith. Before accepting any doctrine or precept, we should demand a plain 'Thus saith the Lord in its support."-The Great Controversy, p. 595.

Christian temperance

Christian temperance has to do with all facets of our life here on earth and recognizes the intimate relation that exists between the spiritual, mental, and physical aspects of our being. The condition of the body affects the mind, and the condition of the mind affects not only the body but also one's spiritual relationship to God.

True temperance may be defined as dispensing entirely with all things which are harmful and making a judicious use of those things which are healthful. The general principle concerning temperance in all things has been outlined in the word of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31; 2 Peter 1:5-8.

A Lesson From the Greek Athletes

"In referring to races as a figure of Christian warfare, Paul emphasized the preparation necessary to the success of the contestants in the race, the preliminary discipline, the abstemious diet, the necessity for temperance. 'Every man that strives for the mastery,' he declared, 'is temperate in all things.'

The runners put aside every indulgence that would tend to weaken the physical powers, and by severe and continuous discipline trained their muscles to strength and endurance, that when the day of the contest should arrive, they might put the heaviest tax upon their powers.

How much more important that the Christian, whose eternal interests are at stake, bring appetite and passion under subjection to reason and the will of God! Never must he allow his attention to be diverted by amusements, luxuries, or ease. All his habits and passions must be brought under the strictest discipline. Reason, enlightened by the teachings of God's word and guided by His Spirit, must hold the reins of control. . . .

"Paul presents the contrast between the chaplet of fading laurel received by the victor in the foot races, and the crown of immortal glory that will be given to him who runs with triumph the Christian race. 'They do it,' he declares, 'to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.' To win a perishable prize, the Grecian runners spared themselves no toil or discipline. We are striving for a prize infinitely more valuable, even the crown of everlasting life. How much more careful should be our striving, how much more willing our sacrifice and self-denial!"-The Acts of the Apostles, pp. 311, 312.

Health Reform from a Biblical Perspective

As a healthy mind is to a large degree developed in a healthy body, health reform has its place in the plan of redemption. Ecclesiastes 10:17; 3 John 2; 1 Thessalonians 5:23.

God's Word beseeches us to take good care not only of our souls but also of our bodies. Romans 12:1; 1 Corinthians 3:16, 17; 9:25, 27.

The general principles related to eating and drinking, and to anything that may affect our physical, mental, or spiritual health, are outlined in the Word of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31.

As a part of the third angel's message, health reform is as closely connected with it as is the right arm with the body (cf. Revelation 14:12; 2 Peter 1:6). Exodus 15:26; Proverbs 3:7, 8; 4:20-22.

Health reform is equated with the moderate use of good things. True temperance requires complete abstinence from all things which are harmful to the system, such as: flesh foods (including fish), animal fat, harmful chemicals added to ready-made foods (such as mono sodium glutamate), alcoholic drinks, tea, coffee, caffeinated drinks, tobacco, and narcotics.

Since the longest list would still be incomplete, we give only a few examples. Hundreds of new products are launched on the market year after year; therefore, each person should find out for himself or herself which ones are to be rejected. See examples in Judges 13:4, 7; Daniel 1:8, 12-16, 20.

Also marital excesses and all forms of sexual perversion are condemned in the Word of God. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5; 2 Corinthians 7:1; Romans 1:24, 26, 27; 13:11-14; 1 Peter 4:2, 3.

"If ever there was a time when the diet should be of the most simple kind, it is now. Meat should not be placed before our children. Its influence is to excite and strengthen the lower passions, and has a tendency to deaden the moral powers.

Grains and fruits prepared free from grease, and in as natural a condition as possible, should be the food for the tables of all who claim to be preparing for translation to heaven. The less feverish the diet, the more easily can the passions be controlled. Gratification of taste should not be consulted irrespective of physical, intellectual, or moral health."-Testimonies, vol. 2, p. 352.

"God requires His people to cleanse themselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of the Lord. All those who are indifferent and excuse themselves from this work, waiting for the Lord to do for them that which He requires them to do for themselves, will be found wanting when the meek of the earth, who have wrought His judgments, are hid in the day of the Lord's anger."-Counsels on Diet and Foods, p. 33.

"All who occupied positions of sacred responsibility [in Israel] were to be men of strict temperance, that their minds might be clear to discriminate between right and wrong, that they might possess firmness of principle, and wisdom to administer justice and to show mercy.

The same obligation rests upon every follower of Christ. The apostle Peter declares, 'Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people' (1 Peter 2:9). We are required by God to preserve every power in the best possible condition, that we may render acceptable service to our Creator."-Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 362.

"A strict compliance with the requirements of God is beneficial to the health of body and mind. In order to reach the highest standard of moral and intellectual attainments, it is necessary to seek wisdom and strength from God, and to observe strict temperance in all the habits of life."-Counsels on Diet and Foods, p. 32.

"We wish to present temperance and health reform from a Bible standpoint, and to be very cautious not to go to extremes in abruptly advocating health reform. Let us be careful not to graft into health reform one false shoot according to our own peculiar over strained ideas and weave into it our own strong traits of character making these as the voice of God, and passing judgment on all who do not see as we do."-Selected Messages, bk. 3, pp. 284, 285.

"The health reform is one branch of the great work which is to fit a people for the coming of the Lord. It is as closely connected with the third angel's message as the hand is with the body.

The law of Ten Commandments has been lightly regarded by man; yet the Lord will not come to punish the transgressors of that law without first sending them a message of warning. Men and women cannot violate natural law by indulging depraved appetites and lustful passions, without violating the law of God.

Therefore He has permitted the light of health reform to shine upon us, that we may realize the sinfulness of breaking the laws which He has established in our very being."-Counsels on Health, pp. 20, 21.

"In the ten commandments God has laid down the laws of His kingdom. Any violation of the laws of nature is a violation of the law of God."-The SDA Bible Commentary [E. G. White Comments], vol. 1, p. 1105.

"The laws governing the physical nature are as truly divine in their origin and character as the law of the ten commandments. Man is fearfully and wonderfully made; for Jehovah has written His law by His own mighty hand on every part of the human body.

"It is just as much sin to violate the laws of our being as to break one of the ten commandments, for we cannot do either without breaking God's law.

"The human being who is careless and reckless of the habits and practice that concern his physical life and health, sins against God.

"A violation of these laws is a violation of the immutable law of God, and the penalty will surely follow."-Healthful Living, p. 21.

Christian temperance involves our entire lifestyle and well being. On this subject we recommend the reading of the following books: The Ministry of Healing, Counsels on Health, Counsels on Diet and Foods, Temperance, Christian Temperance and Bible Hygiene, and Healthful Living.

Our Bodies

The human body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 3:16, 17; 6:19, 20. Therefore, it is our duty before God, not only to be very careful in preserving our spiritual health, but also our physical health. All those who are led by the Holy Spirit will conform to the principles of Christian temperance, which is one of the fruits of the Spirit. Acts 24:25; Galatians 5:22, 23.

Flesh Eating in the Last Days

Although the use of the flesh of "clean animals" was tolerated in the days of the apostles, it is the purpose of the gospel to restore all things to their original purity, including the Edenic diet. Acts 3:19-21.

As the Lord wanted His people to give up the use of flesh foods before entering the land of Canaan, He now requires us to discard all flesh foods in the time of the end as part of our preparation for the coming of Christ and for the heavenly Canaan. Numbers 11:4-20, 31-34; Psalms 78:17-32; 106:14, 15; 1 Corinthians 10:5, 6, 11 (cf. Isaiah 22:12-14, 20-22; Revelation 3:7, 8). Isaiah 22:12-14 has a special application during the anti-typical day of atonement, which began in 1844.

Those who persist in eating pork, guinea pigs, rats, and other abominations and/or forbidden things, while being aware of the prohibition, will be destroyed. Leviticus 11:7; Isaiah 66:15-17 (cf. 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9); Acts 15:20; Leviticus 3:17.

The instructions coming from the Spirit of Prophecy concerning meat eating in these last days are in harmony with the Bible:

"You may ask, Would you do away entirely with meat eating? I answer, It will eventually come to this, but we are not prepared for this step just now. Meat eating will eventually be done away. The flesh of animals will no longer compose a part of our diet; and we shall look upon a butcher's shop with disgust."-Counsels on Diet and Foods, p. 407 (1884).

"No meat will be used by His people."-Ibid., p. 82 (1884).

"Among those who are waiting for the coming of the Lord, meat eating will eventually be done away; flesh will cease to form a part of their diet. We should ever keep this end in view, and endeavor to work steadily toward it. I cannot think that in the practice of flesh eating we are in harmony with the light which God has been pleased to give us."-Ibid., pp. 380, 381 (1890).

"The meat diet is the serious question. Shall human beings live on the flesh of dead animals? The answer, from the light that God has given is, No, decidedly No."-Ibid., p. 388 (1897).

Although the light on health reform had already come to the people of God, and the main reasons why meat eating should be discarded had been stated, at the turn of the century (1899-1900) the Advent people were not yet prepared to accept all the light on the question of diet. "My brother, you are not to make a test for the people of God upon the question of diet."-Ibid., p. 205 (1901).

"Those who use flesh meat disregard all the warnings that God has given concerning this question. They have no evidence that they are walking in safe paths."-Ibid. (1902).

"At this stage of the earth's history meat eating is dishonoring to God. It is meat eating and liquor drinking that are making the world as it was in the days of Noah."-Bible Training School, July 1, 1902.

"Many who are now only half converted on the question of meat eating will go from God's people to walk no more with them."-Counsels on Diet and Foods, p. 382 (1902).

"God's people are to take a firm stand against meat eating."-Ibid., p. 383 (1902).

"It is for their own good that the Lord counsels the remnant church to discard the use of flesh meats, tea, and coffee, and other harmful foods. There are plenty of other things on which we can subsist that are wholesome and good."-Ibid., p. 381 (1908).

In 1909 the church was instructed not "to make the use of flesh food a test of fellowship" (9T 159), because many ministers and leaders were still meat eaters (9T 160). For this reason, the strictly vegetarian diet could not be imposed as a test for new members. "The time has not yet come to prescribe the strictest diet" (Testimonies, vol. 9, p. 163).

At the same time, however, a more advanced step, which would demand the giving up of improper articles of diet, was predicted:

"Those who have received instruction regarding the evils of the use of flesh foods, tea and coffee, and rich and unhealthful food preparations, and who are determined to make a covenant with God by sacrifice, will not continue to indulge their appetite for food that they know to be unhealthful.

God demands that the appetites be cleansed, and that self-denial be practiced in regard to those things which are not good. This is a work that will have to be done before His people can stand before Him a perfected people."-Ibid., pp. 153, 154 (1909).

When the coming of Christ is now so near, we believe we have reached a time when those who "make a covenant with God by sacrifice, will not continue to indulge their appetite for food that they know to be unhealthful." Therefore, the half converted ones, who still want to eat meat, cannot be united with God's remnant people (CD 382). It is evident to us that the time has come for "the strictest diet [to] be prescribed."

Progressive Diet Reform

"The diet reform should be progressive. As disease in animals increases, the use of milk and eggs will become more and more unsafe. An effort should be made to supply their place with other things that are healthful and inexpensive. The people everywhere should be taught how to cook without milk and eggs, so far as possible, and yet have their food wholesome and palatable."-Counsels on Diet and Foods, p. 365.

While the diseases among the animals increase in proportion to the increase of wickedness among men and women, it is now evident that the use of animal products is not safe any longer.

"Let the diet reform be progressive. Let the people be taught how to prepare food without the use of milk or butter. Tell them that the time will soon come when there will be no safety in using eggs, milk, cream, or butter, because disease in animals is increasing in proportion to the increase of wickedness among men.

The time is near when, because of the iniquity of the fallen race, the whole animal creation will groan under the diseases that curse our earth."-Testimonies, vol. 7, p. 135.

Restoration of the Original Diet

At the beginning of the world, before the entrance of sin, God said to our first parents:

"Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat" (Genesis 1:29).

"Grains, fruits, nuts, and vegetables constitute the diet chosen for us by our Creator."-The Ministry of Healing, p. 296.

"When flesh food is discarded, its place should be supplied with a variety of grains, nuts, vegetables, and fruits that will be both nourishing and appetizing."-Ibid., p. 316.

"Again and again I have been shown that God is trying to lead us back, step by step, to His original design-that man should subsist upon the natural products of the earth."-Counsels on Diet and Foods, p. 380.

"Moral principle, strictly carried out, becomes the only safeguard of the soul. If ever there was a time when the diet should be of the most simple kind, it is now.

Those who insist that meat eating is not forbidden in the Bible, although it is disapproved (Proverbs 23:20; Romans 14:21; cf. James 4:17), should understand that "from the beginning it was not so" (Matthew 19:8), that it will not be so when the work of restoration is completed (Acts 3:21), and when all things are made new (Revelation 21:5).

"In the time of the end every divine institution is to be restored."-Prophets and Kings, p. 678.

In the Kingdom of Glory

In the earth made new, after the wicked have been destroyed, even the carnivorous (flesh-eating) animals will all be herbivorous (feeding on plants), as they were in the beginning. Genesis 1:30; Isaiah 11:4-9; 65:25; Ezekiel 47:12.

Dealing With Disease

We are God's property by creation (Genesis 1:27; 2:7) and by redemption (1 Corinthians 6:19, 20). Man was made in God's own image out of the dust. This living machinery consist of three components-body, soul, and spirit-that are governed by specific natural laws. It is God's plan to sanctify and preserve them blameless. 1 Thessalonians 5:23. Every person needs to have knowledge in taking care of his or her body which is God's temple. Life and health are God's gifts to us.

Sickness results when our body is abused. In such a case, the cause should be deduced, the detrimental environment should be changed, and wrong habits corrected. Nature will then be assisted to eliminate the toxins and to reestablish the balance in the body.

Both in prevention and in dealing with diseases, the best method is to use the natural remedies God has provided for us, such as diet, hygiene, pure air, sunlight, moderation, rest, exercise, water, herbs, clay, and trust in divine power. Genesis 1:29; 3:18; 2 Peter 1:6; Mark 6:31; Genesis 2:15; 2 Kings 5:10, 14; 20:7; John 9:6, 7; Psalm 103:2, 3; Mathew 8:6-13; Mark 5:25-34; Luke 5:20, 24, 25; Psalm 104:14.

"To many of the afflicted ones who received healing, Christ said, 'Sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee' (John 5:14). Thus He taught that disease is the result of violating God's laws, both natural and spiritual. The great misery in the world would not exist did men but live in harmony with the Creator's plan."-The Desire of Ages, p. 824.

"Many might recover without one grain of medicine if they would live out the laws of health. Drugs need seldom be used."-Medical Ministry, p. 259.

"We reject poisonous medications and are against all vaccinations," as stated in the SDARM Principles of Faith, is clarified as follows:

The advice to use natural preventive and healing methods should not be confused with acute health problems. Emergencies should be handled by medical professionals. Let us heed the warning:

"My voice shall be raised against novices undertaking to treat disease professedly according to the principles of health reform. God forbid that we should be the subjects for them to experiment upon!"-Testimonies, vol. 2, p. 375.

The main reason why the Lord sent us light on the principles of health reform is that, since 1844, we have been living in the anti-typical Day of Atonement (Daniel 8:14), when our bodies are to be presented as "a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God." Romans 12:1.

"In their practice, the physicians should seek more and more to lessen the use of drugs instead of increasing it. When Dr. A came to the Health Retreat, she laid aside her knowledge and practice of hygiene, and administered the little homeopathic doses for almost every disease. This was against the light God had given. Thus our people, who had been taught to avoid drugs in almost every form, were receiving a different education."-Selected Messages, bk. 2, p. 282.

Dress and Cosmetics

Since God has the health of the entire human being in view, all articles of dress that have a definite adverse effect on our health are clearly prohibited in the word of God. For example: anything that restricts free-breathing, that causes a curvature of the spine or any deformity of the body, and the unhealthful chemicals often placed on the body, such as cosmetics and those used for dying the hair. Exodus 15:26.

Healthful Dress

"In order to secure the most healthful clothing, the needs of every part of the body must be carefully studied. The character of the climate, the surroundings, the condition of health, the age, and the occupation must all be considered.

Every article of dress should fit easily, obstructing neither the circulation of the blood nor a free, full, natural respiration. Everything worn should be so loose that when the arms are raised the clothing will be correspondingly lifted."-The Ministry of Healing, p. 293.

"The suffering caused among women by unhealthful dress cannot be estimated. Many have become life-long invalids through their compliance with the demands of fashion. Health and life have been sacrificed to the insatiable goddess. Many seem to think that they have a right to treat their bodies as they please; but they forget that their bodies are not their own. The Creator who formed them has claims upon them that they cannot lightly throw off.

Every needless transgression of the laws of our being is virtually a transgression of the law of God, and is sin in the sight of Heaven. The Creator knew how to form the human body. He did not need to consult the mantua-makers in regard to their ideas of beauty.

God, who created everything that is lovely and glorious in nature, understood how to make the human form beautiful and healthy. The modern improvements upon His plan are insulting to the Creator. They deform that which He made perfect."-Christian Temperance and Bible Hygiene, pp. 87, 88.

"Many who profess to believe the Testimonies live in neglect of the light given. The dress reform is treated by some with great indifference and by others with contempt, because there is a cross attached to it. For this cross I thank God.

It is just what we need to distinguish and separate God's commandment-keeping people from the world. The dress reform answers to us as did the ribbon of blue to ancient Israel. The proud, and those who have no love for sacred truth, which will separate them from the world, will show it by their works.

God in His providence has given us the light upon health reform, that we may understand it in all its bearings, follow the light it brings, and by rightly relating ourselves to life have health that we may glorify God and be a blessing to others."-Testimonies, vol. 3, p. 171.

Purpose of baptism in the bible

Since there is only one God, one Lord, one Spirit, one faith, one hope, and one body, there can be only one symbol (one type of baptism, by immersion) to represent the beginning of a new life and our identification with these great facets of Christianity and our acceptance into the body of Christ, the church. Matthew 3:13-16; Ephesians 4:3-6.

Baptism is an outward sign pointing to an inward spiritual washing, a cleansing from sin by the blood of Christ already experienced by the believer who has accepted Jesus as his personal Saviour. Apart from this relationship with Christ, baptism, like any other rite, is merely a meaningless outward form. The death and burial of the "old man," as well as the resurrection of the "new man" with Christ, for a new life in Him, are represented by this ordinance. Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; 22:16; Romans 6:3-9; Colossians 2:12, 13; 1 Peter 3:21; Ephesians 4:22-24.

Baptism is a covenant with God, by which the candidate declares publicly that he or she has renounced the world and has decided to become a subject of the kingdom of Christ. Ephesians 2:19; Colossians 3:1-3; Hebrews 8:10-12. As the believing and repentant sinners are baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, they show that they accepted the call out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light. Their sins have been forgiven. They have put on Christ, they have placed themselves under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and they are ready to be united with Christ's visible church on earth. Therefore, baptism is the sign of entrance into Christ's spiritual kingdom. Matthew 28:19, 20; Colossians 1:13; 1 Peter 2:9; 3:21; 1 John 1:9; Galatians 3:27; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Acts 2:47.

The Bible does not teach infant baptism. Only those who have reached the age of accountability can be baptized, provided the following conditions have been fulfilled: faith in Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour (Mark 16:16; Romans 10:13, 14; Acts 8:12, 36, 37; 18:8); thorough instruction in the truth (Matthew 28:19, 20; Acts 8:35); repentance (Acts 2:38); and conversion-a good conscience toward God (1 Peter 3:21).

"Baptism is a most sacred and important ordinance, and there should be a thorough understanding as to its meaning. It means repentance for sin, and the entrance upon a new life in Christ Jesus. There should be no undue haste to receive the ordinance." -Testimonies, vol. 6, p. 93.

After the approval of the church, the act of baptism is performed by an ordained and authorized worker of the gospel. Mark 3:14.

Baptism (Greek baptisma, to dip or immerse) is by immersion in water, preferably in a running stream or clear lake. Matthew 3:16; Acts 8:38, 39; John 3:23.

"Christ has made baptism the sign of entrance to His spiritual kingdom. He has made this a positive condition with which all must comply who wish to be acknowledged as under the authority of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Before man can find a home in the church, before passing the threshold of God's spiritual kingdom, he is to receive the impress of the divine name, 'The Lord our Righteousness' (Jeremiah 23:6). Baptism is a most solemn renunciation of the world. Those who are baptized in the threefold name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, at the very entrance of their Christian life declare publicly that they have forsaken the service of Satan and have become members of the royal family, children of the heavenly King."-Testimonies, vol. 6, p. 91.

"It is the grace of Christ that gives life to the soul. Apart from Christ, baptism, like any other service, is a worthless form. 'He that believeth not the Son shall not see life (John 3:36)."-The Desire of Ages, p. 181.

Test of Discipleship

"None can depend upon their profession of faith as proof that they have a saving connection with Christ. We are not only to say, 'I believe,' but to practice the truth. It is by conformity to the will of God in our words, our deportment, our character, that we prove our connection with Him."-Testimonies, vol. 6, p. 92.

"It should be understood whether [the candidates for baptism] are simply taking the name of Seventh-day Adventists, or whether they are taking their stand on the Lord's side, to come out from the world and be separate, and touch not the unclean thing. Before baptism there should be a thorough inquiry as to the experience of the candidates. Let this inquiry be made, not in a cold and distant way, but kindly, tenderly, pointing the new converts to the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world. Bring the requirements of the gospel to bear upon the candidates for baptism."-Ibid., vol. 6, pp. 95, 96.

"There is not enough careful, prayerful, painstaking investigation in accepting members into the church. . . . There is one thing that we have no right to do, and that is to judge another man's heart or impugn his motives. But when a person presents himself as a candidate for church membership, we are to examine the fruit of his life, and leave the responsibility of his motive with himself. But great care should be exercised in accepting members into the church; for Satan has his specious devices through which he purposes to crowd false brethren into the church, through whom he can work more successfully to weaken the cause of God."-The Review and Herald, January 10, 1893.

"Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance" (Matthew 3:8).

"John exhorted these [Pharisees and Sadducees] to 'bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance.' That is, Show that you are converted, that your characters are transformed. . . . Neither words nor profession, but fruits-the forsaking of sins, and obedience to the commandments of God-show the reality of genuine repentance and true conversion."-The SDA Bible Commentary [E. G. White Comments], vol. 5, p. 1077.

Rebaptism

Although baptism is generally performed only once, a person should be rebaptized upon repentance if he has broken his covenant with God through apostasy. There is also an example of rebaptism for other reasons than apostasy. When Paul found some disciples in Ephesus, they already believed the truth and were already baptized with a correct baptism and in the right manner. But when they received a clearer knowledge of the truth, they were rebaptized. Acts 19:1-5. Honest souls, coming to the knowledge of present truth, will recognize the need to go through the door to enter Christ's spiritual kingdom.

"Christ has made baptism the sign of entrance to His spiritual kingdom."-Testimonies, vol. 6, p. 91.

"The honest seeker after truth will not plead ignorance of the law as an excuse for transgression. Light was within his reach. God's word is plain, and Christ has bidden him search the Scriptures. He reveres God's law as holy, just, and good, and he repents of his transgression. By faith he pleads the atoning blood of Christ, and grasps the promise of pardon. His former baptism does not satisfy him now. He has seen himself a sinner, condemned by the law of God. He has experienced anew a death to sin, and he desires again to be buried with Christ by baptism, that he may rise to walk in newness of life. Such a course is in harmony with the example of Paul in baptizing the Jewish converts. That incident was recorded by the Holy Spirit as an instructive lesson for the church."-Sketches From the Life of Paul, p. 133.

"If you have lost your Christlikeness, my brethren and sisters, you can never, never come into communion with God again until you are reconverted and rebaptized. You want to repent and to be rebaptized, and to come into the love and communion and harmony of Christ."-Sermons and Talks, vol. 1, p. 366.

"I speak to our leading brethren, to our ministers, and especially to our physicians. Just as long as you allow pride to dwell in your hearts, so long will you lack power in your work. For years a wrong spirit has been cherished, a spirit of pride, a desire for preeminence. In this Satan is served, and God is dishonored. The Lord calls for a decided reformation. And when a soul is truly reconverted, let him be rebaptized. Let him renew his covenant with God, and God will renew His covenant with him."-Manuscript Releases, vol. 7, p. 262.

Christians are Lights in the World

The followers of Christ are to be coworkers with their Master; they must be “blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom,” says Paul, “ye shine as lights in the world.” We are to receive the bright beams from the Sun of Righteousness, and by our good works let them shine forth to others in clear, steady rays, never fitful, never growing dim. We cannot be sure that we are doing no harm to those about us unless we are exerting a positive influence to lead them heavenward. 5 Testimonies,336
The unbelieving world is waiting for your testimony, and I beseech you by the mercies of God to arise and meet their expectation. Darkness is covering the earth, and gross darkness the people; and amid the moral night that is settling upon the world, I beseech you who believe, to testify to those who sit in darkness that there is light, and that none need walk in darkness; for the true light now shineth. The Home Missionary, sept 1,1892.As nearly all around us are being enveloped in the thick darkness of error and delusion, it becomes us to shake off stupidity and live near to God, where we can draw divine rays of light and glory from the countenance of Jesus. As darkness thickens and error increases, we should obtain a more thorough knowledge of the truth and be prepared to maintain our position from the Scriptures. Early Writings, p104.How readily do we speak in endearing words of our friends and relatives, and yet how slow we are to speak of Him whose love has no parallel, set forth in Christ crucified among you.The love of our heavenly Father in the gift of His only begotten Son to the world, is enough to inspire every soul, to melt every hard, loveless heart into contrition and tenderness, and yet shall heavenly intelligences see in those for whom Christ died, insensibility to His love, hardness of heart, and no response of gratitude and affection to the Giver of all good things? Shall affairs of minor importance absorb the whole power of the being, and the love of God meet no return? Shall the Sun of righteousness shine in vain? In view of what God has done, could His claims be less upon you? Have we hearts that can be touched, that can be impressed with divine love? Are we willing to be chosen vessels? Has not God His eye upon us, and has He not bidden us to send forth His message of light? We need an increase of faith. We must wait, we must watch, we must pray, we must work, pleading that the Holy Ghost may be poured out upon us abundantly, that we may be lights in the world. The Review and Herald, dec 15, 1891.

Led by the Spirit of God

What was the result of the outpouring of the Spirit upon the day of Pentecost?—The glad tidings of a risen Saviour were carried to the utmost bounds of the inhabited world. The hearts of the disciples were surcharged with the benevolence so full, so deep, so far-reaching, that it impelled them to go to the ends of the earth, testifying, “God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.” As they proclaimed the truth as it is in Jesus, hearts yielded to the power of the message. The church beheld converts flocking to her from all directions. Backsliders were reconverted. Sinners united with Christians in seeking the pearl of great price. Those who had been the bitterest opponents of the gospel became its champions. . . . Every Christian saw in his brother the divine similitude of love and benevolence. One interest prevailed. One subject of emulation swallowed up all others. The only ambition of the believers was to reveal the likeness of Christ’s character and to labor for the enlargement of His kingdom.Notice that it was after the disciples had come into perfect unity, when they were no longer striving for the highest place, that the Spirit was poured out. Ibid. april 30, 1908.

The need of earnest labor for others

Christ did not tell His disciples that their work would be easy. He showed them the vast confederacy of evil arrayed against them. They would have to fight “against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12. But they would not be left to fight alone. He assured them that He would be with them. . . . So long as they obeyed His word, and worked in connection with Him, they could not fail. Go to all nations, He bade them. Go to the farthest part of the habitable globe and be assured that My presence will be with you even there. Labor in faith and confidence; for the time will never come when I will forsake you. I will be with you always, helping you to perform your duty, guiding, comforting, sanctifying, sustaining you, giving you success in speaking words that shall draw the attention of others to heaven. The acts of the Apostles, p29

Those who become children of God are under obligation to Him to do all in their power to seek and to save the lost. They are to make use of every possible means to give to sinners the word of life and the saving grace of Christ. Remembering the sacrifice that Christ made that He might give to men a perfect example, church members are to follow His example of self-denial and self-sacrifice, that they may save the souls that are perishing in unbelief and sin. . . .And yet how many church members there are who feel little responsibility to make Christ known to their friends and neighbors. If all had carried the love of Christ in their hearts, and the truth on their lips, if we had been diligent in opening the word of life to those about us, showing what Christ is to us, and what He is willing to be to them, hundreds more would be rejoicing in the truth today. But we shut ourselves up within ourselves. We seem to think that it is well with us, and that it is not in our line to speak of Christ. Is He not all in all to us? If we obtain any victories, is it not through His grace that they are wrought? Then why should we not lift Him up? The parables of the lost piece of silver and the lost sheep teach most precious lessons. They deal with the subject of man lost and man recovered. Many, many more would be recovered if they were labored for as represented in these parables.Growth in grace is shown in an increasing ability to work for God. He who learns in the school of Christ will know how to pray, and how to speak for the Master. Realizing that he lacks wisdom and experience, he will place himself under the training of the Great Teacher, knowing that only thus he can obtain perfection in God’s service. . . .

God’s people are to stand as lights in the world.Church members, ask God to give you a burden to open the Scriptures to others, and to do missionary work for those who need help. Some will be rescued in one way, and some in another, but the work must always be done as the Lord shall lead.Let us prepare to raise the standard of the Lord, the standard of purity and holiness. Let every soul purify his own heart, and prepare for the Lord when He shall come in power and great glory. Let believers be quickened by the grace of Christ to work for the saving of their fellow beings. . . .O, how solemn and important is the work entrusted to us! How far reaching this work is in its results! How are we to obtain strength and wisdom necessary for its successful accomplishment? As Daniel sought the Lord, so we are to seek Him. Daniel declares, “I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes.” We are to seek the Lord in humility and contrition, confessing our own sins, and coming into close unity with one another. Brethren and sisters, pray, pray, for your own sakes, and for the sake of others. We are to come to God in faith, and pour out our supplications before Him, believing that He will work in our behalf, and in behalf of those we are seeking to save. We are to devote more time to earnest prayer. With the trusting faith of a little child, we are to come to our Heavenly Father, telling Him of all our needs. He is always ready to pardon and help. The supply of divine wisdom is inexhaustible, and the Lord encourages us to draw largely from it. . . .O that we might have a consuming desire to know God by an experimental knowledge, to come into the audience chamber of the Most High, reaching up the hand of faith, and casting our helpless souls upon the One mighty to save. His loving-kindness is better than life.If we but realized how earnestly Jesus worked to sow the world with the gospel seed, we, living at the very close of probation, would labor untiringly to give the bread of life to perishing souls. Why are we so cold and indifferent? Why are our hearts so unimpressible? Why are we so unwilling to give ourselves to the work to which Christ consecrated His life? Something must be done to cure the terrible indifference that has taken hold of us. Let us bow our heads in humiliation as we see how much less we have done than we might have done to sow the seeds of truth. My brethren and sisters, I speak to you in word of love and tenderness. Arouse, and consecrate yourselves unreservedly to the work of giving the light of truth for this time to those in darkness. Catch the spirit of the great Master worker. Learn from the Friend of sinners how to minister to sin-sick souls. Remember that in the lives of His followers must be seen the same devotion, the same subjection to God’s work of every social claim, every earthly affection, that was seen in His life. God’s claims must always be made paramount. Christ’s example is to inspire us to put forth unceasing effort for the good of others.God calls upon every church member to enter His service. Truth that is not lived, that is not imparted to others, loses its life-giving power, its healing virtue. Everyone must learn to work, and to stand in his lot and place as a burden bearer. Every addition to the church should be one more agency for the carrying on of the great plan of redemption. The entire church, acting as one, blending in perfect union, is to be a living, active, missionary agency, moved and controlled by the Holy Spirit. As surely as we seek the Lord earnestly, He will make the way plain before us. All around us are doors open for service. Let us prayerfully study the work to be done, and then enter upon it with full assurance of faith. We are to labor in quietness and humility, in the meekness and lowliness of Christ, realizing that there is a trying time before us, and that we shall always need heavenly grace in order to understand how to deal with minds. It is the patient, humble, godlike worker who will have something to show for his labors. As a people, and as individuals, our success depends, not on numbers, on standing, nor on intellectual attainments, but on walking and working with Christ. The more fully we are imbued with His Spirit, the greater will be our love for the work, and the greater our delight in following in the footsteps of the Master. Our hearts will be filled with the love of God; and with earnestness and power we shall speak of the crucified Saviour. And as He is uplifted before the people, as they behold His self-sacrifice, His goodness, His tender compassion, His humiliation, and His suffering, their hearts will be melted and subdued, and they will be won to His cause.” The Review and Herald, april 29, 1909.

Worthy of our best energies

What will be the gratitude of souls that will meet us in the heavenly courts as they understand the sympathetic, loving interest which has been taken in their salvation! All praise, honor, and glory will be given to God and to the Lamb for our redemption; but it will not detract from the glory of God to express gratitude to the instrumentality He has employed in the salvation of souls ready to perish.

The redeemed will meet and recognize those whose attention they have directed to the uplifted Saviour. What blessed converse they have with these souls! “I was a sinner,” it will be said, “without God and without hope in the world, and you came to me, and drew my attention to the precious Saviour as my only hope. And I believed in Him. I repented of my sins, and was made to sit together with His saints in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” Others will say: “I was a heathen in heathen lands. You left your friends and comfortable home, and came to teach me how to find Jesus and believe in Him as the only true God. I demolished my idols and worshiped God, and now I see Him face to face. I am saved, eternally saved, ever to behold Him whom I love. I then saw Him only with the eye of faith, but now I see Him as He is. I can now express my gratitude for His redeeming mercy to Him who loved me and washed me from my sins in His own blood.”Others will express their gratitude to those who fed the hungry and clothed the naked. “When despair bound my soul in unbelief, the Lord sent you to me,” they say, “to speak words of hope and comfort. You brought me food for my physical necessities, and you opened to me the word of God, awakening me to my spiritual needs. You treated me as a brother. You sympathized with me in my sorrows and restored my bruised and wounded soul so that I could grasp the hand of Christ that was reached out to save me. In my ignorance you taught me patiently that I had a Father in heaven who cared for me. You read to me the precious promises of God’s word. You inspired in me faith that He would save me. My heart was softened, subdued, broken, as I contemplated the sacrifice which Christ had made for me. I became hungry for the bread of life, and the truth was precious to my soul. I am here, saved, eternally saved, ever to live in His presence, and to praise Him who gave His life for me.”What rejoicing there will be as these redeemed ones meet and greet those who have had a burden in their behalf! And those who have lived, not to please themselves, but to be a blessing to the unfortunate who have so few blessings—how their hearts will thrill with satisfaction! 6 Testimonies, p310-312.Let us purify our souls by obeying the truth, lifting up “holy hands, without wrath and doubting,” that we may obtain this heavenly gift, and realize, by a blessed experience, what is the meaning of the words of the apostle: “filled with all the fullness of God.” The Signs of the Times, feb 24, 1888.

Starting here, right now

God’s people are to stand as lights in the world. They are to realize that upon them rests the solemn responsibility of reflecting rays of light upon the pathway of those who are not keeping the commandments of God. Christ Himself has declared, “Ye are the light of the world.” We are to seek to be light bearers. And when the light of divine truth shines forth with distinctness from the words and works of God’s children, will there be seen any quarreling, any backbiting, among the light bearers? The world will see no dissension in the lives of those from whom the light of heaven is shed abroad. Brethren and sisters, as you let your light shine before men, they will “see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” As the result of these good works, an influence will go forth that will bring salvation to those who behold it. God desires us to keep our light constantly shining.Church members, ask God to give you a burden to open the Scriptures to others, and to do missionary work for those who need help. Some will be rescued in one way, and some in another, but the work must always be done as the Lord shall lead.In the night season God has revealed to me the spiritual condition of the church members living in Oakland and the nearby cities. A large standard was uplifted at a time when many were complaining and finding fault and speaking to the detriment of one another; and this standard was turned around until it appeared before them as a great looking-glass [mirror], from the face of which everyone who looked saw reflected himself with all his faults and sins. The whole erring company, convicted of the sinfulness of their course, prostrated themselves before God, and immediately began to confess their own wrongdoing; and, O, what a scene of repentance and confession there was! A most wonderful cleansing of the camp followed, and the mighty power of God was revealed.I shall never be satisfied until just such an experience comes into the church here. We want to see the salvation of our God. We want the truth to go forth with mighty power; and why, O why, do we continue to stand in the way? Why do we grieve the Holy Spirit of God? Why do we put Him to open shame, by carrying with us our selfish, unconverted dispositions, and yet all the while claiming to be Christians? God grant that every one of us may have clear eyesight to discern what we can do, by looking unto Jesus and by realizing how our course must appear in His sight, and how He must regard envy and strife. God help us to put away our individual defects of character. We want to see the power of God revealed in this community. If it were not for this, I should not leave my home and come down here to speak to you so often. But night after night I cannot sleep more than a few hours; and often, in the hours of the night I find myself sitting up in bed, praying to God in behalf of those who do not realize their spiritual condition; and then I arise and walk the room, and say, O Lord, set thy people in order, before it shall be everlastingly too late! Have Faith in God

what is faith in God?

People tend to define faith in God according to their own understanding and belief,
for the Jewish people and most of other religions, to have faith in God means to honor Him trough doing exactly what the laws of God says, most of the time without understanding or loving what you are doing.

For us Christians, it is to believe in God, it is the kind of trust that you know can not wave, why? Because you know that God is faithful, He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. We know that His character can not be changed by any circumstances and we love Jesus Christ because He proved His love to us on the cross of Calvary.

In hebrews 11:1,"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

why do we need to have faith in God?

I would like to give a very simple example here, let say two people walking on the same street toward the same direction or not, if you do not know the one walking alongside you, will walk in peace? if you do not trust the one walking near you will stay close to that person? The answers are definitely NO.

We want to have eternal life, and for that we need to walk with God, we need to let Him guide us, if we do not have faith in Him, if we do not know Him, if we do not trust that He knows the way and He will lead us to eternal life, then we can not enjoy eternal life. He is the one who promised it, so He knows the way and He is the only one to lead us to eternal life without a doubt.

Having faith in God is the pillar of our Christian life.

what is the result of having faith in God?

The result of having faith in God is seen in our daily life. You have to talk faith, you have to live faith, you have to act faith, that you may have an increase of faith. Exercising that living faith, you will grow to strong men and women in Christ Jesus.

Above all the result of faith in God is the absence of doubt in your Christian life, you will know that your God is faithful and so you do not need to worry or doubt, when you have a problem all you need to do is pray God and believe He will assist you, so your faith gives you peace of mind in all circumstances.

how to keep faith in God?

It may seem that keeping your faith in God during hard time might be extremely difficult, but it not mush easy in the time of abundance either. What we need to remember is in Romans 10:17, that faith comes from hearing and hearing the word of God, in any circumstances of our life, we need to continue to hear the word of God.

The word of God serves two main purpose in our lives, one it is to help us understand God, know what is His love toward us, second it is to inspire us by example. Our faith is build upon the word of God, because we can refer to a certain circumstances of some one's life in the bible and see what God has done for him/her, and we know that He is ready to do the same for us.

Take King David in his moment of abundance, he sinned, he went and killed one of his soldier because he wanted his wife. Let us in all circumstances continue to hear the word of God to keep our faith in God growing.

example of faith in God in the bible

Abraham, read in genesis from chapter 22, you will find that God asked of Abraham His servant one of the greatest sacrifice ever. Abraham waited for God's promise to be accomplish, the promise was about having a son. But because of the advanced age of his wife Abraham did not believe that God's promise was ever gonna come true, yet it did. And now God asked him to kill and sacrifice that same son who was his miracle. But Abraham because He now knew and had faith that God is faithful to His promises, was ready to give the son he got in sacrifice to God.

God saw his heart and knew that Abraham was really ready to sacrifice his son and ordered him not to do it anymore. I like to think that this was God trying to make us understand what kind of pain He went trough when Christ gave himself in sacrifice or for that exact period because Christ was not yet on earth, the pain He was gonna endure when that would happen.

Hannah, let read in 1 Samuel from chapter 1 going on, she was a woman of faith. Married to her husband for several years, she could not give him a child. The husband took a second wife with whom he had children. The life of Hannah was full of mockery, humiliation and denigration from the society and from her co-wife. Hannah prayed to God every day and she promised that the first born God will bless her with, she will give consecrate his life to the service of God. And whee she received her blessing, she got a son named him Samuel and gave him to the prophet Eli to receive the teaching and serve the lord. And Samuel served the lord as a prophet until his death.

What can we get as lessons from Hannah in the bible:
- She kept her faith during hard time
- She never replied badly to those who humiliated her because of her sterility
- She always had the support and love of her husband, I really like this point because when you  are having a hard time it is always great to have someone there to assist you, her husband never left her, if you read the whole story you will see he always had love and respect toward her.
- She kept the promise she made to God, it is not always about God keeping His promises to us but also about us keeping our promises to God. At the beginning of the year we tend to take new resolution, about our health, job, school, finances, our spiritual life too, we would like to be better christian maybe by reading more the bible, by going to church without failure or eve being faithful with our tithe. But do we always accomplish what we promise?
Or when we are asking God to give us something and we promise, God if you give me XYZ, I will do ABC changes in my spiritual life, do keep those promises?
Hannah made one of the hardest promise ever and she kept it, she gave up her son at around the age of 3, only saw him once a year.

Prophet Elijah, let read 1 kings 18, he lived in an era when the whole of Israel from the king to the people lost their way, they became idolaters of Baal. He was one of the few who remain faithful to God and served to bring back the people to God. He talked to the king and organized an event between the prophets of Baal and him the prophet of God, to establish who was the real God. The contest was about setting a altar on fire, the 400 prophets of Baal was to pray him to send fire and burn the altar and Elijah was to call upon God for the same. They took the whole day doing ceremonies, cutting their clothes and even their body for Baal to send fire but nothing happened, and Elijah made his prayer and fire came from heaven.

The greatest lesson we can get here is that no matter the circumstances around you, no matter what is believed to be good, no matter what everybody around you is doing, as long as it is against the word of God you should not participate or copy. Being the only one who is different because you are doing the will of God is the right thing to do. Everybody around Elijah was praying Baal, was idolaters but Elijah stayed faithful to God and succeeded to bring a whole nation back to God, us being different because of our God, will surely bring someone back to God.

Queen Ether, let read in the book of Esther chapter 1 going on, She was chosen as queen by king Ahasuerus. The story of Esther summary is that, the king rebuked his wife and called all the virgins of his kingdom to a party where he would choose a queen. At that time Israel was under the authority of the Medo-Persia kingdom, so everybody was to obey the king. So she came at that party and was chosen as the queen. The Jews were considered as a conquered nation and not every one liked to have them around, one of the king's adviser Haman, was preparing a decree to eliminate them all and in particular the queen's uncle Mordecai who would not bow before hm or the King.
He made the king sign a decree allowing people to kill and destroy the Jews anywhere in the kingdom because they where different and would not do according to the king.

When Esther became a queen, her uncle Mordecai asked her not to show that she was a Jew and act according to laws. When Mordecai was informed of the decree against the Jews, he came to his niece to ask a favour, that Esther should talk to the king and have him revoke it. Esther did not refuse but she asked for the assistance of her people in praying and fasting to ask the favour of God because she was not allowed to go to the king unless called, she could be killed for it.

She went to king, she got his grace and was not killed, she invited him and Haman to a party and the king accepted. On that day of the party, she told the king that Haman wanted to kill her people and knowing that she was one of them, so he wanted to kill her. The king could not accept, he revoked the decree and killed Haman on the same place he was planning to kill Mordecai.

the great lesson here is that Esther never forget who she was, she stayed faithful to God even when she  had everything one can possibly need. Our faith is not only for receiving material things from God, it is above all for us to receive eternal life.

The woman with the issue of blood, let read in in Luke chapter8 from verse 43 going on, this woman never saw Christ before that day, she only heared of what he did by people sharing His work. She was not even among the people following Christ from place to place. But from what she heared, she had faith that Christ will heal her and she realize that everything coming in contact with Christ was blessed too. So just by touching the clothe of Christ she was healed. And Christ told her "thy faith as made thee whole"

Here are some lessons from the woman with the issue of blood:
- she had faith based upon what she heared about Christ
- she did not wait to meet Christ or to know everything about Him to believe
- she did not go via someone else to reach Christ, build your own relationship with Him

faith and works

James2:26, "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also."
James 2:22, "Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? "
In all the example we saw above, the work or action the people realize perfected their faith.

We can not just say we believe and have faith in God and our action goes against it, you can not say you believe that God will bless you with food and go steal from a store, that is not having faith in God. But like Hannah you need tp pray and wait for the time God as set for you to receive His blessing.

   "The kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force." We need to experience a resurrection on the subject of faith. Without faith (a faith that will rely upon a plain statement of the word) it is impossible to please God. A faith that is not sustained by works is worthless. Says the apostle, "What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say, thou hast faith, and have not works: show me thy faith without thy works, and I will show thee my faith by my works." That faith if cherished in our hearts will necessarily draw after it the good works which justify and endorse the faith of the believer. Good works are indispensable as the fruit of faith, and are the sure evidence that we have passed from death unto life, because we love our believing brethren. This is not to say that our brethren are to step exactly in our footprints. True faith in God will lead us to understand that each is a worker. God works upon human minds, and all who love God will love their brethren. They will be zealous of good works.  {BTS, June 1, 1915 par. 2}

When we have faith in God, we talk faith, we act faith and we live faith. In every aspect of our life we need to express our faith in God.

May God help us have faith, keep faith and live our faith in Him daily.

Thank you...
